At this sad moment in the history of humanity, we at LanGServices join all Americans and Peaceful World Citizens in our grief and horror at the human tragedies that have stricken New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania--deeply wounding, along, every Human Heart on the face or our Globe.
Our thoughts, prayers and solidarity go to the families and friends of those who have been injured or have lost their lives as a result of this horrific chain of disasters.
Our appreciation and gratitude, in turn, go to the firefighters, police, rescue workers, and countless anonymous heroes whose prompt response has been invaluable in this tragic hour and who, additionally, are graciously reminding us through their courage and selflessness, of how much good and value can be found in Humanity.
You can help, too...
by contacting the American Red Cross, for both money and blood donations (blood types O+ and O- are the ones they need the most). If you live in the USA, you can call 1-800-HELP-NOW or 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.
by contacting the FBI for any leads you may be able to provide. If you live in the USA, call the FBI Hot Line: 1-800-483-5137,

We have just added a very useful page, the LGS Learn On-Line Database containing a very comprehensive listing of the best possibilities available for on-line education, independently of your area of interest.
On this page, a very helpful search box is likewise available, so as to enable you to find anything else you may have in mind, in terms of on-line education.
As you must have noticed, the LanGServices web site is presently undergoing some fundamental changes and updates. We have also moved the LanGServices domain. It is now hosted by Linux Web Host, which allows us to start offering you a series of advantages.
If you are a frequent visitor, you know that we always update the LanGServices web site regularly. Since our last report on this page, however, there simply has not been sufficient time to post special notes regarding the updates.
The Site Map, however, allows a good bird's eye view of LanGServices, which enables you to locate anything new. In addition, both the Search function and the Site Menu can easily be used to locate and access all additions and updates.
As soon as the current major reshaping is over, we will resume our usual procedure of entering notes on all changes and updates on this NewsBoard page.

For your comfort and profit, there will soon be a second local search possibility: one which allows you to request notification of any updates regarding the topic of your search.
For example, if you are interested in verbs and search for pages dealing with this topic, you will be able to request notification of any updates on this web site regarding this topic (or whatever may be your topic(s) of interest).
Keep tuned, for this additional possibility will be here soon!
|
|
Also considering your comfort, another public utility service has been added to the Search Pages.
This one is especially convenient to those of us who are just too busy to shop, or tired of shopping around for something that we can't quite find the way we wish:
this service really represents an incredible time saver, as you can verify, yourself.
You can handily use the links provided now, or else go try Respond.com 's "think outside the search box" on
the LGS Search Pages
|
|
At any rate, we invite you to take a look at the LGS Search Pages, where you now find a quick menu which you can click for a number of different search purposes. Among these, you are able to enjoy the power of Search Hound's authentic Search Engine. See (and enjoy!) it all for yourself.
|

You'll enjoy the new additions!
|
|
Besides the good additions just mentioned, the LGS Language Forum is being inaugurated very soon! Keep tuned!

A search engine has now been added, to allow you the convenience of searching also inside this Web Site.
Within the next 24 hours, the Site is going to be undergoing scanning by the search engine. This means that during this time results will not be fully accurate.
That is to say, if you happen to try a search within this period, it is possible that the word you are searching for does figure amongst all the LanGServices pages, but has not yet been entered in the search engine database.
As of May 11, approximately 6 p.m. (GMT), you can expect to be able to run a reliable search within LanGServices.
You are evidently welcome to give it a try immediately, if you'd like to.

The LGS Guest Book, referred to on the last news posting (April 29), is now fully operative! Therefore, you can now be officially invited to pay it your visit. There are links to the LGS Guest Book both on the drop-down menu, above, and on the right hand column--or you can just click here.
Please feel free to leave your comments!
|
|
A couple of links have been added to the Links section, which may be attractive to those who have their own home page. Both lead to free web site promotion/increased traffic.

Menu items now operative since the last News report--that is, in addition to the ones that have already been reported:
- Visual Tenses (under Free--a related observation follows right below)
- Come-Go (under Free)
- The LGS Language FAQ
- Language Creation (under Play)
- Search (you can search using up to 4 engines simultaneously--other search possibilities will be added)
- Links (under Util)
- Guest Book (please read further on this item, right below)
There is more to come! So, if you have enjoyed this Web Site, you are welcome to drop by now and then to check what else has come on line. Alternatively, you may submit your name and e-mail address to LanGServices, and comfortably be notified by e-mail whenever relevant additions/updates have been placed on line. In this respect, you can rest assured that your privacy will always be fully respected at LanGServices! Whatever personal data arriving in our mailbox is kept strictly within the boundaries of LanGServices.
Reference to accessing the Contents of this Web Site is worth making again, for the menu format and location have been changed, since this topic was last mentioned (last reference: Dec.1999, below). All pages are accessible by means of the links on the drop-down menu placed above, as well as links standing on the right and on the left of this frame. The links on the left side give direct access to the professional sections of LanGServices, it should be added. As you move your mouse around the left & right frames, all links should become evident. Be sure not to neglect carrying the mouse pointer also toward the very top on either side, where there are links, just as well. If by chance the drop-down menu links above appear to be evading you, this means that the mouse is moving a bit too fast. Decreasing the speed with which the mouse goes over the menu will then allow you to catch every link for a click. Enjoy navigating the new menu!
|
|
As to the menu item Visual Tenses , just mentioned above, if the tense/time subject interests you, you may also enjoy checking out this link to a page dealing with diverse aspects of human relationship to time.

Although the Guest Book remains under construction, there is now a "beta version" on line (experimentally, that is). If you'd like to give it a try, just click on Guest Book , whether above, or on the right! Alternatively, you can e-mail a text intended as a Guest Book entry, and it will be pasted onto the final version of the Guest Book, as soon as it comes on line. This final version should be available shortly.
Important: during this experimental period, it is advisable that you make a copy of any text that you place on the Sign Guest Book page, so there is no loss, in the remote case your entry is not received. In this respect, if you try writing on the Guest Book but do not receive a "thank-you" note within 24 hours, then this means that your entry has somehow not been properly processed.

The situation regarding the undue popping up of advertisement banners has now improved (see news from February 6, 2000, below), although extra banner-windows may still appear. This may happen occasionally as the LanGServices page is first entered. If it happens as you come to visit, just please click that small window away, and you can enjoy an undisturbed visit. As LanGServices, has no commitment that could justify an emergence of such extra screens, alternative solutions are being taken into consideration. Hopefully, the domain host will have this situation totally under control soon, so you are sure to visit without the chance of this unmeant "greeting."

Many apologies for the appearance of whatever undue popping advertisement banners. LanGServices, it must be clarified, has no commitment that could justify an emergence of such extra screens. The domain host is hopefully sorting out soon this malfunction, so you can enjoy your next visit without any surprising interruptions. Meanwhile, thank you for your patience and understanding.

All pages are accessible by means of the links placed to the right, to the left, and above this frame. As you move your mouse around, they will become evident. Be sure not to neglect moving the mouse also toward the top on either side, where there are a couple of extra links.

In addition to the main pages (those directly under LGS, PLG & CoOpt headings), you can try the following sections:
- Quotes,
- What's Important (with links for versions in both English & Portuguese), &
- Links (a page which has just been started).
The links to these sections, as mentioned above, can be found in the Table of Contents (to the right).
